i hate the yankees…

Why do the yankees have to win? I hate them more than anything I have ever hated in my life. They are the evil empire…spending over $200 million to win. I cant complain about the spending because my team, the Red Sox, spend the second most in baseball and have reaped the rewards with two world series in the last 5 years. Well another baseball season in the books and I already cant wait till next october. Did I ever say that october is my favorite month of the year for a couple reasons: 1. its the month I was married ( I have to list that no. 1 because my wife is reading this, j/k it is no. 1 without a doubt even if she wasnt reading my blogs) 2. TX v. OU every october in the cotton bowl (for now until Jerry throws money at the teams and moves it to Jerryworld) 3. baseball postseason, yeah I watch some games during the regular season but magic happens in the postseason. 4. nascar race for the chase is coming down

As for my other team the Mavericks, they are locked in a battle tonight with the hornets in new orleans and I am watching it right now. Dirk has fouled out in the fourth qtr. and Peja just hit a three to tie with 6 seconds left. I am also watching my streak for the cash pick on game cast. I took monta ellis scoring more points tonight against oj mayo. I have won all three picks today (italy in boys u17 soccer, some swiss tennis player at a swiss indoor tourney and sj sharks who won in a shootout over columbus) right now ellis leads 14-10 in the third qtr.

And I am on yahoo stressing out about my fantasy football matchup this weekend, I play the one guy in our league without a win, I am his last game before we start playing people who we already played. His team isnt bad, I know I can and should win easily but he does have brady against the dolphins and mendenhall and ward against the broncos on monday night. he has no te at this minute but…I am still worried. I am 4-4 this season and I have won two straight so if I can win…5-4 puts me still in major contention for playoffs. I have to check on some injuries..calvin johnson and westbrook. I dont have westbrook but I have lesean mccoy; his backup. oh well thats it, it looks like the mavs will lose down by 4 with 40 sec. left in ot. ellis still leads mayo 14-10…but wow ellis has played the entire game. so far so good for me here comes by fight back after 5 days…i would be 6-10 this month…better than any other month. good night and good luck.

hey all…

So my wife is big into this blogging site so I thought I would join the fun and put my thoughts on here just like her.  Although my thoughts will not be as articulate and grammatically correct as hers my thoughs are just as valid.  My thoughts are going to be about sports and television and not as much on books or movies and such. 

As you can probably tell by my username I am a huge Texas Longhorn fan.  I bleed orange, burnt orange that is.  I am not just talking about football, I am huge into any and all Texas sports; basketball, baseball, any and all.  If I cant watch the games live I record them on my dvr, I actually kept last year’s OU v Texas game on there for months and months.  I believe this year is very similar to the year we enjoyed in 2005, we are undefeated and headed for a showdown with the defending national champions(Florida) in the Rose Bowl just like in 05′ when we beat USC in the Rose Bowl.  I have already asked off for Jan. 6th thru the 8th.  I cant wait…we just need to take care of business, one week at a time.  I believe that the seniors on this year’s team, Colt, Kindle, Muckelroy, etc. are perfect leaders to remind this team not to look ahead.

My other passion/addiction is ESPN.com’s Streak for the Cash fantasy game.  This session is almost over and unfortunately I will not make the Streak 7 and have a chance at a million dollars.  Oh well I find it enjoyable and has actually made me watch sports I wouldnt normally watch, like soccer.  I can not begin to tell you how much soccer I have actually watched this past year, Dutch leagues, Swiss leagues, German leagues, and of course the two most known around the US, the MLS and English Premier League.  Also this game angers me alot, I make alot of my picks based off of betting lines or my gut and traditionally the first five days of each and every month are the worse.  I am lucky if I can maintain and .500 winning percentage, but the last 20-25 days of the month I am more than solid usually around a .600 winning percentage.  My overall winning percentage is about .565 after about 900-1000 picks this session(April 1- present).  My goal is to have the most wins in a month and win $2500 but I have never even made the top 100 leaderboard at the end of the month, I did however make it on there at the end of last month for 6 hours.  Does this mean I am going to give up…NO.  I will continue to make every pick I can and watch how it finishes and then pick again. 

I digress but I am addicted to sports…my favorite teams are 1. Any team of the University of Texas at Austin, 2. Boston Red Sox, 3. Dallas Mavericks, 4. Houston Texans.  I am also big into Nascar with my favorite drivers, 1. Jeff Gordon, 2. Kyle Busch, and 3. anybody but Jimmy Johnson. 

Oh well that is enough of an intro into my life, back to espn.com to watch how my pick tonight (NHL: NY Rangers v. Vancouver Canucks, I picked the Rangers -115) finishes up while watching King of the Hill followed by Family Guy and probably some Roseanne( Thanks to my wonderful and loving wife.)
